DEXTER, MI — The Chelsea Bulldogs field hockey team delivered a strong showing at the Great Lakes Field Hockey Showcase in Dexter in which they took on a pair of teams from Illinois and were able to recover from a narrow opening-game defeat to sweep Saturday’s slate in convincing fashion. The showcase opened Friday with a tightly contested battle against Oak Park River Forest. Despite a hard-fought effort, Chelsea fell just short in a 3–2 loss. The Bulldogs responded with authority on Saturday, dominating both of their matchups: Chelsea 4, Oak Park River Forest 1: In a swift rematch, Chelsea turned the tables with a decisive 4–1 victory to even the weekend series. Chelsea 7, Lake Forest Academy 2: The offense carried its momentum into the second game of the day, overpowering Lake Forest Academy 7–2 to cap off the showcase. Head Coach Leslie Fry noted, "Chelsea demonstrated they could compete with talent from out of state as they ended the tournament with a 2-1 record against teams from Kentucky and Illinois. This tough competition was great preparation as they jump into SEC competition this week." With an explosive 11 goals scored across Saturday's doubleheader, Chelsea finished the showcase on a high note, demonstrating offensive depth and resilience heading into the rest of the season.
