HOLLAND, MI — The Chelsea varsity boys tennis team put together a strong overall performance at the Holland Christian Invite, sweeping two of their three dual matches to claim a second-place team finish behind the host school. Chelsea kicked off the tournament on high notes, earning a convincing 6–2 victory over Haslett before battling to a hard-fought 5–3 win against Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian. In their final matchup, the Bulldogs fell 6–2 to a tough Holland Christian squad, which clinched the top spot overall. The Bulldogs featured several standout performances across the lineup: Gavin Heinze led the way at 3 Singles, finishing an undefeated 3–0 on the day to earn the tournament title in his flight. The 5 Doubles tandem of Liam Hurden** and Cam Harmes dominated their flight, matching Heinze with a perfect 3–0 record. At 2 Doubles, Luca Giardello and Sebastian Valdina turned in a strong 2–1 tournament run to take top honors in their bracket. With a 2–1 team record on the day, Chelsea showed deep flight-by-flight strength against quality competition as they prepare for the rest of their season.
