In a game that personified the "never say die" attitude, the varsity girls basketball team secured a thrilling 57-49 overtime victory against Fowlerville during district final action at Williamston High School. The road to victory was anything but smooth. The Bulldogs found themselves in an early hole, trailing 13-12 after the first quarter. Momentum swung heavily in Fowlerville’s favor during a difficult second frame, leaving the Bulldogs staring down a 30-17 deficit at halftime. The Turnaround The second half told a completely different story. Refusing to go quiet, the Bulldogs locked in defensively, stifling Fowlerville's offense and chipping away at the lead. By the end of the third quarter, they had narrowed the margin to 37-29. The defensive intensity reached a fever pitch in the fourth quarter. Despite the surge, the Bulldogs still trailed by two points with less than 10 seconds remaining on the clock. The Play of the Game With their season on the line, the Bulldogs executed a high-pressure defensive play on a Fowlerville inbound pass. After forcing a crucial steal, Giana Barney drove to the hoop and sank a layup just as the buzzer sounded. The bucket sent the crowd into a frenzy and the game into overtime tied at 44. Overtime Dominance With the momentum firmly on their side, the Bulldogs took complete control in the extra period. Outscoring Fowlerville 13-5 in overtime, they cruised to the 57-49 finish.
